Valent Announces Agriculture Scholarship Winners

$3,000 awarded for agricultural education

November 10, 2015

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.—Valent U.S.A. Corporation today announced the winners of its second-annual agriculture scholarship contest, a program that creates advocacy and educational opportunities for rising leaders in the agriculture business sector. Launched at the recent Farm Progress Show, this scholarship program is one way Valent invests in the future of agriculture and supports the next generation of industry leaders.

Entrants submitted a two-minute video detailing their reasons for studying agriculture, and winners were determined by the number of "likes" each entry received online. More than 2,500 votes were cast for the 11 entries from across the country, and a total of $3,000 was awarded.

"These scholarships reinforce Valent's commitment to the agriculture industry leaders of tomorrow and the value they will bring to society through innovations in agriculture," said Julie Venierakis, senior director, Human Resources and General Services at Valent. "We firmly believe in taking an active role in advancing the agriculture industry and the important work we do every day, and that begins with supporting and encouraging the young professionals studying in this space."
