Corporate social responsibility is not something we do. It is something that is in our DNA. It is at the foundation of our business, as well as that of our parent company, Sumitomo Chemical.
We are committed to the communities we live and work in, and we support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We strive to reduce food waste and improve the freshness and appeal of fruits and vegetables by supporting various food banks both financially and through ongoing volunteer efforts. We helped launch the No Taste for Waste campaign in an effort to educate and reduce household food waste.
Through our long-standing partnerships with FFA and AFA, we're providing teachers with resources and materials to promote agricultural education and inspire the next-generation of agricultural leaders.
We established the Valent Council on Diversity & Inclusion to foster an environment of diversity and inclusion across Valent. We’ve made Unconscious Bias Training part of employee learning plans and the council continues to implement and promote other measurable ways to advance a culture of inclusion at Valent. Through the ‘Women in Ag’ industry initiative, we give females within the industry a strong platform to express their voice.
To sustain our environment, we're focused on waste reduction, energy efficiency and green design. Our recycling programs reduce the amount of waste disposed at landfills, and our investment in energy-efficient equipment is helping to save energy
The Ag Container Recycling Council has collected over 200 million pounds of HDPE since the program was started in 1992. Valent is a founding member of the ACRC.
As we move forward, we will continue to put the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals at the forefront of all that we do. To learn more about these goals, visit the United Nations' dedicated website.
